Regional Faculty Funding

Harvesting Coconuts

Funding for the broad network of CLACS regional faculty associates comes in the form of research-conference support and on-campus programming support.

Research/Conference Support

The Upper Midwest Latin American Studies Initiative Regional Faculty Research-Travel Award Competition provides modest ($500) awards for Latin Americanist and Caribbeanist faculty with an appointment at a two or four year, public or private institution in the Midwest. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, both designated as U.S. Education Department (US/ED) National Resource Centers, are working collaboratively to provide as many regional research-travel grants as possible.

On-campus Event/Activity Support

CLACS is pleased to continue a funding initiative aligned with our mission as a National Resource Center to encourage and support regional events and activities related to Latin America or the Caribbean. Regional Faculty Associates may apply for funding in support of guest speakers, cultural events and/or conferences organized on their respective campus. Requests will be considered on an ongoing basis.
