WCTC AAS Early Childhood Education to UWM BS Community Engagement and Education

The Early Childhood Education AAS degree at WCTC teaches students how to guide young children’s learning and development. Coursework covers educational concepts such as:

  • Child development theory
  • Child, family and community relationships
  • Child growth and development
  • Best practices in teaching and learning
  • Professionalism
  • Health, safety and nutrition practices

The Community Engagement and Education BS at UWM builds on that approach with educational policy courses focused on community organization. Students choose an appropriate submajor.

Both programs emphasize:

  • Practical communication skills
  • Problem solving
  • Critical thinking
  • Interpersonal relations

The transfer pathway below follows the Wisconsin Technical College System articulation agreement (revised agreement in review) between WCTC’s AAS in Early Childhood Education & the BS in Community Engagement and Education at UWM.  To have as many courses transfer as possible, follow the course substitutions marked with an asterisk.

The College of Community Engagement and Professions also offers a BS in Early Childhood Education. A separate articulation agreement governs transfer into that degree. See the transfer guide for more details.
