A new “UWM System Security Guidelines” document is available on the UWM IT Policies & Guidelines webpage.

Pursuant to UW System Data Protections Procedure 1031.B, the document “provide(s) guidance on how to ensure the security of systems and data belonging to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) and University of Wisconsin System and to maintain the ability to provide disaster recovery, management and monitoring of systems.”

Specific guidance to our campus is offered on Access Controls, Data Copying/Printing/Transmission, Network Security, System Security, Physical Security, Data Storage, Backup/Disaster Recovery for major high-risk systems, and Disposal. All IT professionals at UWM should read the document and act in conformity with its contents.
