Kinesiology students performing research in a lab on the UWM campus.

Do you enjoy participating in physical activity, sport and exercise? Studying the human body? Working with people?

Kinesiology is the study of how the human body moves and how physical activity affects health, fitness, sport performance, and well-being.

The accelerated BS/MS Kinesiology program provides an excellent foundation for a career in strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology, or further education in research or practice.

Student Spotlight

“I came to UWM as a kinesiology major. I have been running since I was 7 years old and always knew I was interested in physical activity and exercise.

“I am currently working on a research project with Scott Strath and other students in the Physical Activity & Health Laboratory. I am super passionate about studying athletic populations as I am an athlete myself. I find it interesting to learn about things that are applicable to me and my own performances.”

Admission to the Graduate School and the MS Kinesiology program is selective and occurs in the fall of junior year (year 3) with a formal start date in the accelerated program of spring of the following year (year 4). To be considered for admission to the graduate phase of the accelerated program students  must meet the following requirements:

  • Direct application to the UWM Graduate School.
