UWM to hold first Day of Giving on 4/14

UWM’s first-ever university-wide day of giving will take place Wednesday, April 14. This event, known as 414 for UWM: Day of Giving, coincides with Milwaukee Day, when current and former residents of the 414 area code celebrate our city.

UWM’s 24-hour fundraising campaign provides an opportunity for alumni, friends, faculty and staff to support the university’s critical role in Milwaukee by giving to the Chancellor’s Student Success Fund, which helps keep students on the path to graduation, or by supporting whatever area of UWM they find most meaningful.

414 Day of Giving: What Does UWM Mean to You?

“Last year, when so many students suddenly found themselves without an income, our faculty and staff stepped up to generously support students in need,” said Tom Bjornstad, director of annual giving at UWM. “My records show that we are indeed a generous, caring group, and I am excited to see what we can accomplish on April 14.”

Schools, colleges and departments across UWM are seeking support for student scholarships, research, equipment and more. Gifts can be made from now through April 14 at dayofgiving.uwm.edu. Participants can show their school spirit by taking a selfie with Flat Pounce and posting it on social media to encourage others to give.

On April 14, visitors to the website can check leaderboards that show the number of donors and dollars raised in total and for specific areas. Some donors have already issued special challenges and gift matching opportunities to raise funds for areas important to them.
