UW-Milwaukee leaped eight spots in the latest rankings of online bachelor’s program by U.S. News & World Report.

UWM Online landed at No. 24 among more than 350 colleges and universities evaluated nationwide in the 2026 U.S. News Best Online Programs. UWM is the highest ranked online program in Wisconsin.

The university also ranked highly in three subcategories of online programs:

  • No. 32 for its bachelor’s in business program.
  • No. 33 for its bachelor’s in psychology program.
  • No. 17 in online bachelor’s programs for veterans.

“This year’s rise in the U.S. News rankings reflects the intentional quality of UWM’s online academic programs and a sustained focus on student success,” said Amy Mangrich, interim executive director of UWM Online. “Recognition of strong student performance outcomes, innovative teaching and faculty excellence underscores the university’s commitment to preparing online learners for long-term professional success and places UWM’s online programs among the nation’s best.”

Now in its 14th year, the U.S. News Best Online Programs evaluates more than 1,800 online programs using metrics specific to online learning. The rankings include only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.

Programs are evaluated using several factors, including engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer assessment, services and technologies, and student excellence.

UWM has long been a leader in online education, now offering more than 50 fully online degrees and certificates.
