U.S. News ranks UWM among top universities in the world

UWM has been named one of the top universities in the world, one of just four higher education institutions in Wisconsin to achieve that designation in a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

The 2022-2023 Best Global Universities Rankings also include UW-Madison, the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University.

The rankings measure universities on 13 indicators, including academic research performance and global and regional reputations. More than 2,000 universities from more than 90 countries were considered.

UWM is ranked No. 544, while UW-Madison is No. 63. The Medical College of Wisconsin ranks No. 615, and Marquette University landed at No. 1,172.

UWM scored well in several subject rankings, including No. 63 in space science, No. 285 in physics and No. 344 in social sciences and public health.

“The Best Global Universities rankings offer prospective students a valuable resource for exploring higher education options outside of their home country,” said Robert Morse, chief data strategist at U.S. News. “Over the past nine years, these rankings have expanded to include more schools and more subjects, while maintaining a consistent focus on institutions that prioritize academic research.”
