This update regards services and information provided by Transportation Services, Prowl Line, B.O.S.S., MCTS and parking permits during the interim period between fall and spring semesters.

Prowl Line

The Prowl Line will continue to provide service to the UPARK at Capitol Drive and Humboldt Blvd. through fall 2016 finals week. The last day of service to the UPARK will be Friday, Dec. 23, at 6 p.m. Service to the UPARK will be discontinued through the UWinteriM until the first day of classes for the spring 2017 semester on Monday, Jan. 23.

Please note that service to the UWM University Housing residence halls will continue throughout UWinteriM. Service hours and operation will be reduced to on-call operations, with date specific information available online at uwm.edu/parking. Please note that service will not be provided on Saturday, Dec. 24; Sunday, Dec. 25; Saturday, Dec. 31; and Sunday, Jan. 1. General hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight, and weekends, 9 a.m. to midnight. Service can be requested by contacting a UWM University Housing residence hall service desk. Service will return to normal operations on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Be On the Safe Side (B.O.S.S.)

B.O.S.S. and Off-Campus Shuttle will both run through Dec. 23.  Service will not be provided between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2.  Operations will resume on Jan. 3 with a reduction in hours and staffing. From Jan. 3 through Jan. 22, B.O.S.S. will operate from 7 p.m. until midnight. B.O.S.S. will be closed on Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Service will return to normal operational hours (6 p.m. to 2 a.m.) and full staffing on Jan. 23.

B.O.S.S. has added a paratransit vehicle to the fleet, which will be able to transport passengers with mobility devices. This vehicle will be available effective immediately. When requesting a ride over the phone, please notify the dispatcher so the vehicle may be dispatched to you.

B.O.S.S. and the Off Campus Shuttle will begin using a new, Uber-style app called TapRide, starting spring 2017 semester. Students can download the app to their smartphones at tinyurl.com/taprideandroid for Android users or tinyurl.com/taprideapple for Apple users.  Phone calls and walk-ups are still accepted (414-229-6503), but students are encouraged to begin using TapRide.  Benefits include being viewing in real-time your van on a map, receiving notification when a van arrives, and reduced wait times.

More information about both B.O.S.S. and Off-Campus Shuttle can be located online at uwm.edu/boss and uwm.edu/parking, respectively.

Milwaukee County Transit System

MCTS will run U-Bus routes throughout finals week, but there will be adjustments to the schedule for the start of finals week.
