New version of Microsoft Teams goes live on Jan. 3

On Wednesday, Jan. 3, the new version of Teams will go live at UWM.

Some of the changes you will notice on the new Teams:

  • Runs up to two times faster when launching the app, joining meetings, and switching chats and channels.
  • Better computer performance and laptop battery life.
  • Offers easier collaboration with colleagues who are using Teams at other organizations.

To help you explore the new version of Teams, please visit Microsoft’s website to review all the changes and features.

The previous version of Teams, called Classic Teams, will be available until March 2024. Our IT News article has instructions on how to switch back to Classic Teams. Please note you will need to use Classic Teams to schedule and produce Teams Live Events.
