Milwaukee Bucks come to UWM to encourage students to vote

The Milwaukee Bucks came to campus last week to pepper students with questions and create a video to encourage voting.

The video posted Tuesday morning, the day of Wisconsin’s spring primary election, on the NBA team’s community service Instagram and Facebook pages.

The Bucks’ in-game music coordinator, DJ Shawna, accompanied by Bango the mascot, quizzed students about voting. She asked about the dates of the primary and general elections, how to register and voting requirements, and noted that they could cast their votes before election day.

“I’m a wealth of knowledge,” Shawna joked. “I’m not just a DJ, he’s not just a deer.”

The video is part of the Bucks’ community service efforts. The NBA has made efforts in recent years to encourage voting.
