National Depression Screening Day will be held Oct. 10

National Depression Screening Day will take place on Oct. 10 in the Student Union. UWM encourages those feeling sad, angry, anxious, or stressed to get a mental health check-up. Depression, once recognized, is a treatable illness. This screening will help identify it and walks through treatment options.

The screening offers:
• An anonymous depression screening
• Educational resources for participants to take home
• A confidential interview with a mental health specialist to discuss the results of individual screenings
• A list of local resources where treatment is available

The screenings run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in rooms 145 and 147 in the Union. People can participate either by signing up at the information table on the main floor of the Union or by going directly to the private screening areas. UWM mental health counselors will also be at the information table and available to answer questions.

This event is sponsored by the UWM Counseling Services. For more information, please contact JoAnne Graham at the University Counseling Services at 229-5144.
