Blue skies and 80-degree temperatures attracted a crowd of about 60 people to the annual UWM Sand Castle Building Competition Sept. 16 at Bradford Beach. Eleven teams risked gritty shorts and high tide to reach for design victory at the event, hosted by the American Institute of Architecture Students’ Milwaukee chapter.
There was no shortage of imagination. Students drew ideas from the TV hit “Game of Thrones,” the video game “Sonic the Hedgehog” and even a favorite pastime on a sunny day at the beach. All students pictured are architecture majors unless otherwise noted.
