Portia Cobb Invited to Attend Arts & Tech Residency Symposia

LEC Teaching Fellow alumnus Portia Cobb has been invited to participate in Technologies of Critical Conscientization (Con/Crit/Tec), an intensive Arts & Tech residency workshop held in Sao Paulo, Brazil from April 23 – May 3. Con/Crit/Tec is organized by the Center for Arts, Design, and Social Research, and was co-founded by 1994 UWM-MFA alumni Chris Bratton. It focuses on examining and reinventing the thought process in technical and non-technical fields. Portia has received a grant from the Peck School of the Art’s Heil Fund to support her travel to the symposia.

“I’ll be among artists from across the globe and I have been invited to screen and present my work focused on community and documentation of Gullah Geechee life & Culture. I am excited to query more about current scholarships on the Black Diaspora across the Atlantic.” – Portia Cobb
