In this presentation, I am interested in exploring some of the tactics that Pablo Larraín employs in his film No (2012) to reconstruct Chile’s recent past, specifically the monumentally significant defeat of the Pinochet regime. I would like to suggest that along with his distinct inspired version of the 1988 events, Larraín’s tactics serve to apprehend how cinema can still function politically in the present day, albeit in a different guise from its previous revolutionary iterations in the continent.
