Each Summer, from the end of May to the beginning of August, University Housing partners with more than 30 Milwaukee-based companies to provide housing options in Cambridge Commons or RIverView Residence Hall for their summer interns. We provide an affordable, safe, and relaxing home, for interns as they prepare for their professional experiences. Sponsoring companies have confidence that their summer interns are being housed in an engaging environment with other young emerging professionals.

Availability

Rooms are available June 1, 2025 – August 10, 2025

Suites

Each standard suite is composed of two separate bedrooms, each with a maximum capacity of two people. These bedrooms are utilized as singles during the summer, unless a double is requested. The bedrooms offer a large closet area just off the entrance, as well as beds, dressers and desks in each room. Linens are not provided. In addition, each suite has a vanity area and bathroom. The complex is fully air conditioned and non-smoking. Every Cambridge suite is equipped with a full-size refrigerator.  

Upgraded Suites

Cambridge Commons Upgraded suites are also available on a limited basis, and have a furnished living room and full kitchen. Living rooms are furnished with 2 love seats, 2 end tables, and a coffee table. The kitchen has a breakfast bar and stools.

Amenities

The Commons
A computer center, music practice rooms, fitness center, laundry center are all located on the first floor of Cambridge Commons. A convenience store (Restor+More) is located in the Cambridge Commons and features evening and weekend hours. An Intern Center Coordinator will provide networking and social activities and information. Cambridge Commons also has a Riverfront Courtyard and ADA river access.


Meeting Rooms
Cambridge Commons also has on site classrooms and conference rooms equipped with AV equipment that can be used for presentations, meetings, and classes. There are two study rooms on each floor (with the exception of the first floor) that can be used by all residents. These areas are a 24-hour quiet study environment.
Lounges
A resident lounge is located at the middle of each floor. The lounge provides a common gathering area for residents, and is equipped with a television and a kitchen with a microwave, stove, oven and sink. Every lounge has windows over looking the courtyard and Milwaukee River. Dishes are not provided.
Security
Our 24-hour Service and Security desk operations provide a safe and secure environment for our Summer residents. The 24 hour locked lobby is accessible by swiping an ID (issued at check-in). The indoor parking structure is also secured by an electronic permit system.
Internet Access
All resident rooms are equipped with high speed internet access for each resident at no additional fee. Standard connection cables may be purchased at any retail outlet or at the Service Desk. Residential Guest Service Guest will be provided WiFi connection instructions upon arrival.
Laundry
The laundry center is located on the first floor. The center is open 24-hours a day. All washers and dryers are operated using a resident PantherCash Account (cards will be distributed to all residents). Cash can be deposited to the PantherCash Account at a cash value station located in the laundry center.
Mail
Resident mail boxes are located on the first floor. Mail is delivered by the US Postal Service 6 days per week. Packages larger than the mailbox are held for residents at the Service Desk, and a package notification is emailed and/or placed in their mailbox.

Additional Information

Parking
Limited parking permits are available in Cambridge Commons, Kenilworth Square Apartments, and RiverView Residence Hall (all require an additional fee). Kenilworth is approximately 4 blocks east of Cambridge Commons, while RiverView is one block west of Cambridge Commons.
Contracts/Payments
Companies who choose to pay for their interns can do so via a group contract, or individual interns can contract with us for their stay. A minimum 5 working days notice is requested. An initial payment of the $50 Non-Refundable Contract fee plus the first 30 nights is due upon contract submission. The remaining balance is due in full on or before July 5.
Rules & Regulations
Intern Housing is governed by University Housing Rules & Regulations. Please review the Resident Handbook to ensure compliancy.

Residents must comply with these policies as well as with those of the University, UWS 18 Conduct on University Lands, and with the laws of the State of Wisconsin and the U.S.; which have been incorporated into these policies where applicable. Changes and revisions to these policies may be made by the Chancellor and are effective upon publication.
