Contracting Closes at 11:59pm Friday, May 1st.
As of 11:59pm on Friday, May 1, 2026, University Housing has stopped accepting Residence Hall Contracts for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. If you do not have a submitted contract or a submitted exemption at this time, you will be given an automatic exemption from the UWM Residency Requirement and may pursue other housing options through the Off-Campus Resource Center. We do acknowledge that we will have cancellations over the next coming months and encourage you to place yourself on our residence hall wait list through the Housing Portal if you still wish to live with us in University Housing. We will offer contracts based on the wait list as spaces become available.

The form below, along with supplemental documentation, must be submitted if you do not agree with the Financial Appeal Committee’s original decision. Make sure to upload a letter explaining in detail the basis for this secondary appeal. Appeals that do not include a letter will not be reviewed. You are also encouraged to review your Contract Guidebook for information on contract policies, processes, room rates and fee schedules.

Housing appeals must be initiated by the contract holder. Family members or other involved parties are permitted to provide relevant supporting documentation, but they may not initiate the appeal.

Secondary appeals will ONLY be considered if there is additional documentation or information that has not been previously reviewed in the first stage of appeal. The contract holder has 14 calendar days from the date of the Financial Appeal Committee’s decision letter to file a secondary appeal. Appeals submitted after the deadline may not be reviewed.

During the appeal process, you are highly encouraged to pay any balance that is due on your PAWS account, even if it involves the charge being appealed. Until an appeal is granted, the charge in question is subject to all applicable late fees and registration holds. University Housing can only make decision on charges and fees that are applied by our department. If you pay for charges that are later reversed and no other outstanding balance is due on your PAWS account, a refund will be issued.

Secondary Financial Appeals are reviewed by the University Housing Associate Director for Business Administration. Secondary Financial Appeal decision letters are emailed to the appealer’s UWM email address. Decisions are generally received within 1 week after submission. Secondary Financial Appeal is the final stage in the University Housing appeal process.
