Nonprofit Revenue Portfolios: What Should My Revenues Be?
Nonprofits are often told to become less dependent on government revenue or start a social enterprise in order to increase their income. But what type of revenue should your nonprofit be earning? Can (and should) all nonprofits have an earned income revenue stream? Join us for an interactive lecture and discussion that will cover tools and strategies you need to answer these questions.
Be sure to bring your organization’s current financial statements & IRS Form 990s for this hands-on workshop!
Dr. Elizabeth Searing returns to Milwaukee after joining us in 2017 for her popular presentation on The Overhead Myth & the Nonprofit Starvation Cycle. This time she will actively look at earned income and how it might play into your organization’s overall revenue strategy.
Dr. Searing is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Policy at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, University at Albany (SUNY); she is also the former Director of the Institute of Nonprofit Leadership and Community Development. Dr. Searing’s primary research focus is the financial management of nonprofit and social enterprise organizations, but she also conducts work on comparative social economy, the role of social and psychological factors in economic development and policy effectiveness, and applied ethics for the social sciences.
