Tressie Kamp
- Assistant Director, Center for Water Policy, School of Freshwater Sciences
Tressie Kamp is the Assistant Director of the Center for Water Policy. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Cardozo School of Law, where her published law journal article focused on the disproportionate impacts of climate change-induced natural disasters on women and children. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology, with a certificate in Environmental Studies, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Tressie was formerly an Assistant Attorney General (2019-2025) at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she practiced environmental law and enforced a wide array of violations of state laws to protect public health and advocate for clean air and water. She was a Staff Attorney at Midwest Environmental Advocates (2014-2019), where her work focused on the Clean Water Act and agricultural pollution. During the past decade, Tressie has consistently incorporated mentorship and supervision of law students and new attorneys into her work.
Tressie brings a passion for mentorship as well as climate and environmental justice to the Center for Water Policy. She will expand and advance the Center’s research mission, foster staff development, and lead financial planning and grant writing for the Center.
Beyond her work at the Center, you'll find Tressie running or hiking, searching for monarch butterflies, and enjoying bonfires with family and friends. She also serves as the chair-elect on the Board of the State Bar Environmental Law Section, and volunteers regularly on community and sustainability projects at her children's schools.
