High school students at underwater robotics competition

We work with area teachers to introduce children and teens to the world of freshwater science.

We have many ways for school groups to get involved with the School of Freshwater Sciences. They can attend open houses, host guest speakers, collaborate on Great Lakes or freshwater science curriculum, and participate in the Lake Sturgeon Bowl or the Wisconsin Regional ROV Competition.

Lake Sturgeon Bowl

The annual Lake Sturgeon Bowl is part of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. This double elimination tournament is for motivated high school students in grades 9-12. It offers a challenge in science and math.

ROV Competition

The Wisconsin Regional MATE Competition challenges K-12, community college and university students from all over the world to design and build ROVs to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace.
