Our mission at the UWM College of Engineering & Applied Science is to educate students to become creative problem solvers, conduct leading-edge research with global impacts, and act as a catalyst for improved economic development and quality of life in Wisconsin.

As such we actively work with a wide range of constituents from K-12 students, college students, corporations, research foundations and community partners. There are multiple opportunities for sponsorship and partnership with our college depending on your goals and objectives.

Support our students:

Career Fairs

Sponsor a booth to meet our students and your prospective employees at our engineering and computer science-related career fairs in the spring and fall. Businesses may also include a social media package with their sponsorship or sponsor the LinkedIn Photo Booth. See our Career Services page or contact Juli Pickering for more details.

Internships and Co-ops

Provide an internship (typically part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer) or a co-op (typically a commitment of at least three terms that include academic credit). See our Career Services page or contact Juli Pickering for more information.

Fall Welcome Fest

Sponsor our college’s back-to-school celebration in the fall for all students, staff, and faculty. Contact Michelle Boehm for more details.

Product Realization Course

Industry sponsors pay a fee to cover expenses and provide engineering personnel for the Product Realization Course, a regular course offering to mentor a student project team. The multidisciplinary approach has real benefit. The course is co-taught by an engineering professor and an art professor. Students form interdisciplinary teams of engineers, artists and designers then review the company’s product brief, determine a budget and timeline, then design and build the prototype.

Scholarships

Financial support for individual students provides opportunity for the next generation of engineers and computer scientists. Contact Jean Opitz for more details.

Senior Design Projects

All undergraduates complete a senior design project in their senior year where they work as a team to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to address a real-world need. If you have a challenge for our students, we would like to talk to you about incorporating it into their assignment. See our Corporate Partnerships & Services page for more details.

Student Organizations

Experiential learning outside of the classroom is critical to our student’s success. Providing resources to one of our many engineering and computer science related student organizations allows them to better achieve their goals. Contact Jean Opitz for more details.

Student Research Poster Competition

Every spring our undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students showcase their research through presentations to judges from industry in the Student Research Poster Competition. Contact Michele Weinschrott for more information.

Support our industry and research programs:

Laboratories

Support specific faculty research, or a graduate researcher. Contact Jean Opitz for more details.

Milwaukee Engineering Research Conference

The MERC is a conference that brings together federal agencies, industry and academia for important technical discussions to advance the nation’s research enterprise. Contact Andrew Graettinger for more information.

Research Consortiums and Centers for Excellence

Learn about our existing research collaborations and real-world successes that may be applied to your business. Contact Mike Andrew for more information.

Support our K-12 student programs:

Girls Who Code Club

To encourage interest by girls in computing and all of the opportunities it provides, UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science hosts a Girls Who Code Club during the academic year for students in grades 5-12. The program is led by computer science faculty; female instructors are UWM computer science students. Contact Girls Who Code for more information

EnQuest

UWM’s engineering summer camp geared toward high school girls is called EnQuest, offered only at UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science. Contact Chris Beimborn for more information.
