Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights (formerly Equity/Diversity Services) is to effectively integrate equal opportunity and diversity into UWM’s institutional climate. UWM’s policies provide equal opportunity in admissions, employment, educational programs, and activities without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.

EOCR is dedicated to preventing discrimination and guiding institutional compliance with applicable federal and state laws. Through educational programs, the investigation and resolution of complaints, and oversight activities, EOCR fosters an environment and culture that appreciates all members of the UWM community.

Types of Reportable Conduct

UWM’s Discriminatory Conduct Policy (SAAP 5-1 (PDF)) prohibits discrimination and discriminatory harassment based on:

Title IX

If you wish to report a Title IX-related incident, including incidents of sexual violence or sexual harassment, please submit a report to UWM’s Title IX Coordinator, or contact one of UWM’s Deputy Title IX Coordinators. More information about reporting options for incidents involving sexual violence or sexual harassment is available on UWM’s Title IX website.

Hate/Bias

If you wish to report a hate/bias incident, please use the online Hate/Bias Incident Reporting form. After your report is submitted, you will be contacted by an EOCR investigator.
