Networking & Community Building
We offer resources that contribute to creating a welcoming campus climate for everyone. We also facilitate opportunities to gather for learning, mutual support, and community building.

Affinity groups are formed by employees based on a shared identity or common goal. They are not part of UWM’s formal governance structure, but they bring together employees with similar backgrounds or interests and help foster a greater sense of community and support.

Read, reflect, and connect with colleagues through facilitated discussions of thought-provoking books. These virtual gatherings provide opportunities to exchange ideas, learn together, and build community.

The UWM community includes people from many different backgrounds, experiences, beliefs, and traditions. This multifaith calendar is a resource to help all of us respect and be considerate of this variety of beliefs, traditions, and practices.
Signature Events
Our signature events foster meaningful connection and learning by bringing together campus and community members to explore important issues, exchange ideas, and deepen understanding through respectful dialogue.

Renewing Our Civic Culture is an initiative dedicated to promoting civil discourse, empathy, and engagement across differing perspectives. This annual event features a late afternoon guest lecture, followed by a shared meal with facilitated dialogue at each table.

This annual symposium explores challenges and opportunities related to empowerment and justice, with particular attention to how these issues intersect with broader systems of power. The daylong event includes a keynote speaker, as well as academic and creative presentations by UWM students, staff, and faculty.
