The UWM University-Community Band wraps up its year with a Spring Concert featuring a number of musical styles and traditions.
University Community String Orchestra (UCSO) is proud to preset it's inaugural concert! Tonight's program will consist of works from Corelli, Resphigi, Grainger and Mozart. Please join us and support our very first combined student and community member string ensemble.
The UWM Percussion Ensemble presents its annual spring concert featuring a combination of historically significant works with recent, cutting-edge compositions. The program will include Juri Seo’s “VV” and Andy Akiho’s “Pillar 1” alongside John Cage’s “Living Room Music,” Alan Hovhaness’ “October Mountain,” and Lynn Glassock’s “No Exit.” This concert will also feature the return of the UWM Marimba Band, which has been on hiatus since the pandemic shutdown.
The UWM Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band will share a concert that celebrates the end of the academic year and feature a performance of the winning entry from the UWM Bands annual Concerto Competition.

The UWM Wind Band Conducting Symposium Concert is a culmination of conducting, score study, and wind band teaching. Participants will conduct the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band after two days of study under Dr. Thomas Gamboa, Director of Bands at UW-Milwaukee; Dr. Scott Corley, Associate Director of Bands at UW-Milwaukee; and guest clinician, Col. Jason K. Fettig, Director of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band and Chamber Orchestra and Director of Bands Designate at the University of Michigan.
The Wind Band Conducting Symposium will focus on enhancing conducting, score study, and wind band teaching. Conducting participants will conduct the UWM Wind Ensemble or Symphony Band while receiving feedback from conducting faculty. Session topics also include conducting pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and musicianship. Attendees may participate as either a Conducting Participant or an Observing Auditor. Conducting participants will also have the opportunity to conduct one of the large wind bands in concert at the end of the symposium.Â
The prestigious Fine Arts Quartet, Ralph Evans and Efim Boico, violins, Gil Sharon, viola, and Niklas Schmidt, cello will offer a FREE concert featuring concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. There will be no pre-talk for this event as works will be introduced during the concert.
Steel pan ensembles and individual performers from around Wisconsin and Illinois will come together to form the 2024 MKE Mass Steel Band, hosted by the UWM Steel PANthers Steel Band. Involving over fifty performers, the event will fill the stage with steel pans and feature a lively combination of traditional music and pop transcriptions.
The MKE Percussion Festival brings together percussionists of all ages for a weekend of educational and performance opportunities. Attendees will be able to learn from guest artists about a variety of topics, instruments, techniques, and musical styles related to percussion in addition to listening to, and participating in, performances and workshops. All events are designed to be accessible and inclusive to empower and inspire all participants on their percussive journey. Â

This final performance of the Vocal Arts Festival features the UWM Concert Chorale and the VAF Festival Choir of 120 of the finest high school singers from around Wisconsin and Illinois.
The Vocal Arts Festival provides an opportunity for talented singers to interact with, perform for, and join their voices with peers from around the region as they learn and grow as both soloists and choral artists. The festival also includes the UWM Vocal Showcase Recital and the Final Concert with UWM Concert Chorale.
This end of the term showing features works by the African Dance, Salsa/Merengue & Hip Hop classes.

The UWM Symphony Orchestra presents a concert featuring Claudia Lasareff-Mironoff, a viola professor who will perform a recently discovered Viola Concerto by J.S. Bach with harpsichordist David Schrader. Under the baton of Jun Kim, the orchestra will perform Haydn's final Symphony No. 104, the crowning of all of Haydn's symphonic works, also known as "London", and the Eight miniature pieces by Stravinsky.

The UWM University Community Orchestra presents their annual fall concert. Our group of a 130+ musicians will present an eclectic mix of full orchestra selections.
The UWM Percussion Ensemble presents its annual fall concert featuring a wide variety of instruments, sounds, and compositions from the past 25 years. The program will include recent works by Emma O’Halloran, Jason Treuting, Annika Socolofsky, and Pulitzer Prize-winner Ellen Reid. Other works will include Takayoshi Yoshioka’s “Square Dance,” Nigel Westlake’s “Moving Air,” and Emmanuel Séjourné’s “Akadinda Trio.”

The UWM Wind Ensemble & Symphony Band will perform a shared concert during the annual UWM Middle School Honors Band Festival weekend. The concert is open to all of our supporters, and is free for the participating festival students and one parent/guardian. The program will be a showcase of our outstanding UWM Bands!
The UWM Middle School Honors Band Festival is one of the longest standing events of its kind. Our festival provides the region’s most motivated and accomplished middle school instrumentalists an opportunity to work with each other and with regionally and nationally recognized wind band conductors. In addition, students interact with UWM performance staff and experience performances by UWM ensembles.

The Moraine Symphonic Band from UWM-Washington County will also perform on this concert, and the ensembles will combine for a Sousa march finale!
