The UWM Symphony Orchestra is hosting a concert titled An Evening of Opera Arias with Aaron Agulay, which will showcase the talents of Dr. Aaron Agulay, an award-winning Baritone and UWM’s newest faculty member.

Agulay has performed in various venues and organizations worldwide, including renowned opera houses such as Opernhaus Zürich, Konzert Theater Bern, and Carnegie Hall. He has also won several awards, including the Grand Prize, Audience Choice, and Director’s Choice of the Annapolis Opera Competition. In this concert, Agulay will be singing beloved opera arias by Verdi, Donizetti, and Korngold.

The concert will also feature a guest orchestra, Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra, from Michigan, under the direction of Dr. Joel Neves. They will share the stage with UWM Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Elgar’s Enigma Variations. UWM Symphony will perform Suppe’s Light Cavalry overture and intermezzo from Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. To conclude the concert, UWM & Keweenaw Symphony Orchestras will join forces together to perform Verdi’s Nabucco Overture.

Comprised of graduate and undergraduate music majors, the ensemble performs a six-concert series and collaborates annually with UWM Choirs and Opera Theatre, as well as presents an annual Concerto Competition Concert featuring student winners. UWM’s Symphony Orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, North Shore Performing Arts Center, the Wisconsin Music Educators Association State Conference, and was chosen as one of the two orchestras to perform at the National Conference by the College Orchestra Directors Association in Los Angeles.
