Alum Fred Kaems (BFA 2016, Art) is among the artists responsible for a new movement that strives to create murals across Milwaukee. Kaems is the artist behind The Dream Library, a multi-story mural located on 57th and Vilet Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood.
In a Milwaukee Magazine article by Evan Musil, Kaems shares his experience as a muralist and explains how he thinks the trend will make Milwaukee a more colorful place.
“There’s a lot more opportunities for younger artists to get into it. There’s a lot more resources for people to be doing it. People are more willing to fund things that are a little more out there,” Kaems said. “And by out there, I mean more imaginative and not maybe so quite straightforward what a mural is.”
