Mildred Marie Foster Dissertation Research Award

The Mildred Marie Foster Doctoral Research Award contributes funds toward doctoral research for students in the Africology department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This award is conferred for excellence in a student’s academic work and superior doctoral prospectus. The award is for up to $1100. A maximum of 1 award will be given per academic year, with no guarantee that awards will be made annually. The Graduate Affairs Committee arranges a subcommittee to read and rank submissions for the Mildred Marie Foster Award.

Application Requirements from student:

-1 page research proposal summary with budget statement attached*

-full dissertation prospectus (officially passed by dissertation committee)

-short support letter (max. 250 words) from student’s advisor

-unofficial transcript

The 2016 deadline is July 6. Submit your application via email to the Africology Graduate Coordinator. Your advisor should submit their letter of support directly to the Africology Graduate Coordinator. Please contact the Department of Africology Graduate Coordinator for further details.
