“Marielle Franco’s Seeds: Black Women and the 2020 Brazilian Election” by PhD Student, Dalila Negreiros

Ph.D. student, Dalila Negreiros, recently published an article for the North American Congress on Latin America titled, “Marielle Franco’s Seeds: Black Women and the 2020 Brazilian Election.” The article addresses the historical underrepresentation of Black women in Brazilian politics and the mobilization of Black candidates since the murder of Marielle Franco, the only Black councilwoman from the city of Rio de Janeiro, in 2018.
