There is no other event like this in Wisconsin where teaching and embracing the African roots of Latino culture is the central focus, and represented by youth and adults together. The show is free and family-friendly.
Celebrate 50 Years of Black Studies at UWM

The event will be held in the Union-Wisconsin Room and include a keynote presentation from esteemed alumna and Harvard University Professor, Dr. Evelyn Higginbotham, as well as a panel discussion with Dr. Dan Burrell (student activist and first director of the Center for Afro-American Culture), Dr. Clayborn Benson, (UWM alumn and director of the Wisconsin Black Historial Society), and Dr. Charmane Perry (graduate of the department's PhD program).
