Applicants must meet Graduate School Requirements plus the following departmental requirements to be considered for admission to the program:

1. Undergraduate or graduate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75
2. A sample (10-15) pages of the individual’s written work
3. TOEFL scores from non-native English speakers.
4. At least three (3) letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar withthe applicant’s academic work’

Please note that the GRE is encouraged, but not required to be considered for admission to the PhD program.

Students must also apply directly to UWM’s Graduate School, and forward the requisite application fee in order to have their materials considered. Prospective applicants should visit the Graduate Schools website.

Completed applications must be received by December 1st to be considered for fall admissions.
