Dr. Patrick Bellegarde-Smith has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Haitian Studies Association. Dr. Bellegarde-Smith will be presented with the award at the 22nd Annual Conference of the Haitian Studies Association, November 11-13, 2010.
The Department of Africology wishes a fond farewell to Dr. Rita Cheng.
Dr. Patrick Bellegarde-Smith gave three keynote lectures in Toronto in March 2010:
- The 2010 Michael Baptista Lecture at the Centre for Research on Latin American and the Caribbean at York University
- A featured lecture in Caribbean Lecture Series at the Centre for Research on Latin American and the Caribbean at York University
- A featured lecture at the Ontario College of Art & Design in their Art Creates Change: Action lecture series.
Dr. Patrick Bellegarde-Smith, Africology professor and renowned Haitian scholar, has been featured by several news outlets in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.
