Since 2009, the Office of Undergraduate Research has hosted a small group of incoming students to campus for four weeks during the summer (July 8th – August 2nd, 2024) to become involved in faculty research with leading UWM researchers.

This competitive program pairs each student with a researcher on campus.  The program provides room and board in the Sandburg residence halls for the students, as well as offers them a $1000 stipend.  Students spend 25-35 hours a week in their research mentors’ lab settings, and meet twice weekly with the other summer researchers in a seminar that introduces them to the culture of university research. The students will also participate in social activities with other incoming students to help them make valuable connections and become familiar with the UWM environment. There is no cost for students to participate in this program.
