The UWM App Brewery has released a new version of the UWM mobile app.
“It’s a faster, better, more reliable app,” said Joel Herron, a lead developer at the App Brewery.
Students who have the older app can get the latest version by simply updating the existing one, Herron said. Students who have auto-update automatically received the new version when it was released.
The team at the App Brewery rebuilt the existing UWM mobile app using the latest techniques in production, Herron said. All of the features found on the original app remain, and the new version includes an improved news and events page. The news page will publicize student events at the Student Union and others sponsored by student organizations. The App Brewery is working with Student Affairs to have an updated calendar of events for students.
The new app’s weather feature replaces the now-outdated weather page, Herron said. All the weather information will come from UWM’s Innovative Weather, which also serves organizations such as WUWM and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Also known as the Mobile Innovation Lab, the App Brewery is a UWM program staffed by UWM students and full-time employees who work on mobile apps and technology.
