Are you a UWM student looking for an exciting and rewarding opportunity? We hire students to officiate our basketball, volleyball, and soccer leagues!

About Us:

At UWM Intramural Sports, our passionate and dedicated student employees are at the heart of our success. They manage and officiate all our Intramural Sports leagues and tournaments, ensuring every game is played fairly and safely while enhancing the overall experience for our participants. Many officials begin their officiating careers with us, and our program has even developed officials who now officiate at junior high, high school, and collegiate levels of sports.

How to Apply:

Ready to dive into the world of officiating? To express your interest, please complete the Intramural Sports Employment Interest Form. Once you’ve submitted your form, we’ll be in touch with the dates and times for our upcoming officiating clinics. These clinics are open to all interested students and are completely free. Registration is not required, simply show up! Our hiring decisions following the clinics are based on semester availability, program needs, attentiveness, demonstrated ability as an official, and a willingness to improve and learn.

Job Summary:
At UWM Intramural Sports, our officials are integral to the success of our contests within the Department of University Recreation. To excel in this role, you’ll need a strong understanding of the sport’s rules and the ability to manage various in-game situations effectively. Our officials interact with diverse groups of participants on a nightly basis, placing a strong emphasis on prompt and courteous communication. While we appreciate officiating experience, most of our new hires come with only high school playing experience, though neither is a requirement. While officiating, we always have an Intramural Supervisor present to help you improve and grow as an official. This part-time, on-campus position offers you the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment alongside like-minded students who share your enthusiasm for sports.

Room for Advancement:
At UWM Intramural Sports, we’re proud to say that many of our Intramural Supervisors began their journey with us as Intramural Officials. In this role, you’ll gain valuable leadership and supervisory experience, handling essential responsibilities like player safety, official evaluation and development, ensuring proper setup and teardown of playing areas, and managing player conduct issues.
