The University Recreation Faculty & Staff Free Trial Week is a promotion offering a free trial UREC Faculty/Staff Membership to current University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee employees only.

FAQs

When is the UREC Free Trial Week?
  • The Faculty & Staff Free Trial Week will begin on Monday, February 3rd at 6 am when the Klotsche Center and Pavilion opens.
  • The free trial period will end on Sunday, February 9th at 11 pm when the Klotsche Center and Pavilion closes.
    • The free trial can be started at any time between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9 but all trials will end on Feb. 9th at 11 PM, regardless of when the faculty or staff member begins the trial.
    • The trial offer is only valid for February 3 – February 9. The week-long trial cannot be paused or moved, and it cannot start before February 3 or after February 9.
    • Free trial memberships cannot be obtained before February 3.
Who is the free trial for?
  • UW-M Faculty or Staff members are defined by their status as an employee at UW-Milwaukee as noted by Human Resources. Eligible participants in the free trial must be on payroll at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
    • Spouses or dependents cannot participate for free during the trial period, however, spouses or dependents can be sponsored with a guest pass for the standard fee of $12 per day during a faculty or staff member’s trial period.
      • Said spouse or dependent cannot be re-sponsored after the free trial concludes if the UWM faculty or staff member does not continue with a paid membership after their free trial membership expires.
      • Spouses or dependents must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Community members or retired professors/staff members are not eligible
    • Requesting patron must have their name in the UWM Database for the UREC software (Fusion) to pull their name into the system.
Where do faculty and staff members get access?
  • Participating faculty and staff members have access to all of the services and programs available to standard faculty and staff memberships. This includes:
    • Free Group X Classes
    • Member pricing for Outdoor Pursuits Rentals
    • Entrance to the Fitness Center, Cardio Room, and Pavilion Gym
    • Member pricing for personal training sessions
    • Member pricing for locker rentals and towel services
How do faculty and staff members take part in the free trial week?
  • Interested faculty and staff members must fill out the Free Trial Week Interest Form for their information, and to prepare the University Recreation staff for interested parties.
  • After the interest form is complete, interested faculty and staff can come to the Klotsche Center during normal business hours to request a faculty/staff free-trial membership between the dates and times of Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 am, and Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11 pm.
    • Note: The free trial period only lasts from Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 am to Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11 pm. No free trials can start before or start and continue after the period set.
  • Faculty and staff participating in the free trial will fill out the required paperwork to obtain a trail membership, including a standard recreation waiver.
  • After a faculty or staff member has been approved for a free trial membership, members gain access to the facilities with their PantherID, or by connecting their account to the UWM UREC Mobile App.
What happens after the conclusion of the Faculty/Staff Free Trial Week?
  • Any faculty or staff member who participates in the free trial week will lose membership access on Sunday, February 9 at 11:01 pm.
  • Faculty or staff members who would like to continue their membership after the conclusion of the free trial have the option to register for a standard faculty/staff membership option with University Recreation.

What benefits do faculty and staff members receive for taking part in the free trial week?
  • Faculty and staff members who participate in the free trial week have access to the following:
    • A pre-scheduled facility tour with a building manager.
      • Monday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 pm
      • Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 12:30 pm
      • Friday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 pm
    • Group X Classes during the week are designed for new members information on rental equipment and bike shop opportunities with Outdoor Pursuits
      • Information on University Recreation services for Faculty/Staff Memberships
    • A discounted Fall membership is available based on the pro-rated system.
