Do I need to pick up a physical permit

If you purchased a UPARK or a residence hall permit, click yes.
  • If you purchased a UWM at Waukesha permit, you need to get a physical hand tag to display on your car’s dashboard. Typically, for students, if you purchase it a few weeks prior to the start of the semester, this is mailed to the address you selected when purchasing. When school starts, they are typically available for pick up at the campus Student Affairs or Solutions Center. Faculty/staff have their passes placed in their mailboxes. If you have any questions, please email cgs-accounting@uwm.edu. Please see the Waukesha Parking page on our website for more details.

  • Permits for other facilities that are off campus, including Kenilworth, Riverview, and Cambridge facilities as well as U-PARK, are considered main campus permits for this form. Please change your answer to yes if you’re looking for those permits.
  • Bus Passes (CVPs and U-PASSes)

To ride a bus, you need a separate bus pass. Transportation Services will provide an MCTS pass.

    Student U-PASSes

Fall 2024: You can submit a request to activate their U-PASS for the Fall online.

You will receive pick-up instructions in an email after it your request processed.

    Faculty/Staff CVPs

A faculty/staff member will need to send a photograph to Transportation Services via uwmpark@uwm.edu. It must be a head shot, without any obstruction of your face (e.g., sunglasses or hats), which will be printed on your CVP as photo identification. Once the CVP is available, it will be mailed to home address as listed in HRS.

  • Motorcycle/Moped Permits

We use the license plate for motorcycles and the VIN for mopeds to verify it has an active permit. Separate permits are needed for motorcycles and mopeds. Please contact uwmpark@uwm.edu if you have any questions.

  • Outdoor Lot Permits

Outdoor lot permits do not require a physical permit.

Instead, your vehicle’s license plate is your permit. Our enforcement vehicles have license plate recognition (LPR) cameras that read your plate and verify you have a permit.

Be sure to update vehicles attached to your permit in your account to avoid receiving a citation.

You can have up to four vehicles attached to a permit, but only one vehicle can be on campus at a time per permit.

  • K Permits

Contractor, or K, Permits require a physical hang tag that is displayed on the dashboard of vehicles. Transportation Services will provide the permit when ready for pick up. Please contact uwmpark@uwm.edu.

  • Cambridge Commons Garage

You will need a physical hang tag. Typically, residents pick it up at the Cambridge Commons front desk and return it there at the end of the permit. Transportation Services drops them off before the end of the semester.

  • EMS and Sandburg

EMS and Sandburg permits do not require a physical hangtag.

Instead, your vehicle’s license plate is your permit. Our enforcement vehicles have license plate recognition cameras (LPR) cameras that read your plate and verify you have a permit.

Be sure to update vehicles attached to your permit in your account to avoid receiving a citation.

You can have up to four vehicles attached to a permit, but only one vehicle can be on campus at a time per permit.

  • Lubar, NWQ, Pavilion, and Union Garages

Our gated garages do not require a physical hangtag. You should bring your Panthercard or other access card with you when entering/exiting the garage. It must be a physical PantherCard; digital student IDs, such as the GET mobile app, are not supported.

License plate recognition (LPR) cameras read your plates when entering/exiting the garage and raise the gate.

BUT our LPR cameras may not always work (due to dirt, snow, the location of the plate, etc.). So be sure you have your Panthercard with you. If this happens, you’d scan it against the keypad, and the gate would open.

If you changed vehicles, please update vehicles attached to your permit in your account so you can enter/exit without issue.

You can have up to four vehicles attached to a permit, but only one vehicle can be in a garage at a time per permit.

  • Kenilworth

Kenilworth garage does not require a physical hangtag. You should bring your Panthercard or other access card with you when entering/exiting the garage. It must be a physical PantherCard; digital student IDs, such as the GET mobile app, are not supported.

Kenilworth Community Parkers: Transportation Services will provide you with an access card as you do not have a Panthercard. Please contact uwmpark@uwm.edu with any questions.

If you changed vehicles, please update vehicles attached to your permit in your account so you can enter/exit without issue.

You can have up to four vehicles attached to a permit, but only one vehicle can be in a garage at a time per permit.

  • Outdoor Lots

  • Purin

Residents receive clickers from Transportation Services that they can use to open/close the garage door when entering/leaving Purin.

  • Riverview

You use your Panthercard to enter/exit the garage. It must be a physical PantherCard, not a virtual.
