Transportation Services offers several services to support other departments and units at UWM.

Departments can validate parking for guests of sponsored events and programs. All vehicles parking on campus must have their parking paid for by themselves or by a department.

Most departmental validations require you set up a validations account that is tied to your designated funding string. You can email uwmpark@uwm.edu to create, modify, or delete a validations account. Active validations account are viewable on SharePoint.

Reserve parking for a special visitor or event, cover the cost of a citation for a guest, and more.

Use Amano ONE to validate parking in Lubar, NWQ, Pavilion, and Union Garages.

Parking is limited on campus, so please consider reaching out to us when planning your events to ensure there is enough parking for your guests.

Surface/Outdoor Lot Validations: Special Visitor Requests

Special visitor requests are intended for small meetings and events with five or fewer guests. You can reserve parking at any parking location subject to availability.

There are two types of requests:

  • Morning Only: 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM for $8
  • All Day: 7:00 AM to 11:59 PM for $12

You may reserve more spaces than that through a Special visitor request, but please consult with Transportation Services prior to the event to ensure there is room.

Gated Garage Validations: Amano ONE

UWM offers two different types of passes at Lubar, NWQ, Pavilion, and Union garages.

Validation
  • Also known as an eFlexPrint pass.
  • Pay by the hour based on the garage fee schedule.
  • Billed only if used.
  • Parking on a first-come, first serve basis.
Reservation
  • Also known as FlexPass or MyTicket Pass.
  • Flat $12 fee.
  • Billed based on the number of passes reserved.
  • Guarantees parking.

For information on creating parking validations and reservations, see the Amano ONE page.

Parking for Large Events

Events in which a department require more than ten (10) parking spaces should contact the Parking Operations Assistant Director to make arrangements. Parking is limited on campus, and working with Transportation Services can ensure that your guests have parking needed near your event.

Events require the submission of a Purchase Request, but specifics vary for each case. For large events, Transportation Services may have designated employees assigned to assist, which may result in additional labor charges (typically at $20 an hour). Transportation Services may be able to provide iPads to help validate license plates or tickets at no charge.

Typically, for events held during regular business hours during the school year, you will be required to use reservations. Reservations are billed based on the number of spaces reserved (even if fewer guests show than anticipated). This is because to ensure there is parking for an event, we have to prevent other paying customers from parking in the garage.

For events held in evenings and on weekends as well as when school is not in session, there may be greater flexibility in parking availability. As such, you may have the option to validate parking for guests. Validations are based off guests who show up and are billed back either on a flat fee or for the number of hours parked.

Departmental Permits

Departments can also purchase long term (annual, semester, or monthly) parking permits. Submit a Purchase Request. You should change the Request Type to Permit from Special Visitor. You can use a driver worktag assigned to your department or enter a funding string.

Reserved Parking Spaces

Departments can request an annual reserved parking space for a specific department, program, or person. Submit the Purchase Request with a request type of Reserved Space. Reserved spaces have a special sign (paid by the department) that is designated solely for whomever the department wants.

Additionally, there are two options for departments:

  • Transportation Services prefers that the department enters their license plate on a unique web link. This gets communicates to our enforcers that the person is authorized, so we can ticket any vehicles not authorized to park in the departmental space.
  • If a department cannot or prefers not to collect the license plate, then they have to contact Transportation Services whenever an unauthorized vehicle is parked in a space. Please send a timestamped photo of the vehicle, so we can issue a citation (in-person or virtually) to the vehicle.
Contractor Permits: Paid by Department

Contractor parking is available with a “K” permit at outdoor lots at the all-day special visitor rate of $12 a day. Monthly “K” Permits cost $127 each. Submit a Purchase Request. You should change the Request Type to “K Permit” from “Special Visitor”. You can use a PK number assigned to your department or enter a funding string.

With K Permits, you have two options:

  1. You get a code and a link to a website. Your contractor enters the code and vehicle information on the site on arrival.
  2. You enter the contractor’s license plate, so it is pre-planned to work on designated day. You would have to email uwmpark@uwm.edu if there are changes after submission.
Contractor Permits: Not Paid by Department

Contractor parking is available with a “K” permit at outdoor lots at the all-day special visitor rate of $12 a day for reserved parking and $8 for non-reserved parking. Monthly “K” Permits cost $127 each. Vendors and contractors can purchase daily and monthly passes through the Parking Portal. You will need to create an account.

Alternatively, you can pay by the hour using contactless payment methods in the following lots:

Citations

Departments can submit a Purchase Request with the Request Type of Citation to cover the cost of a citation that a visitor had received when visiting UWM on official business.

Transportation Services can assist with providing alternative transit options for sponsored events, guests, and programs.

Bus Passes

Student Bus Passes

Most students pay for the student pass, or U-PASS, through their segregated fees, which are assessed as part of their tuition. However, some students (especially in Summer) may not have their U-PASSes active if they are not enrolled in classes. Departments wishing to pay for a student’s bus pass for the semester should submit a Purchase Request: you would change the Request Type to Bus Pass and enter in the information about the student(s).

Employee Bus Passes

Faculty/staff members can sign up for an employee bus pass, better known as a Commuter Value Pass (CVP), for $33 a month. A department wanting to pay for the employee portion of the CVP can submit a Purchase Request: you would change the Request Type to Bus Pass and enter in the information about the employee(s).
