Message from the Chief
Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee!
To our new and returning students, faculty, and staff, I am pleased to welcome you to another academic year at UWM. Whether you are joining our campus community for the first time or returning to continue your studies, research, or work, we are glad you are here.
The UWM Police Department is committed to supporting a safe, welcoming, and inclusive campus environment where all members of our community can learn, live and work. Our officers and staff take pride in serving the campus through a community-focused approach that emphasizes partnership, communication, prevention, and preparedness.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage everyone to stay informed, be aware of their surroundings, and reach out whenever assistance is needed. The UWM Police Department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we are here to help with emergency response, safety concerns, crime prevention resources, campus safety education, and general assistance.
We value the trust and collaboration of our campus community. By working together, we can continue to make UWM a safe and supportive place for all Panthers.

The mission of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Police Department is to provide a safe and secure environment in which to learn, live and work. UWMPD is committed to community policing through evidence-based, problem-oriented, data-informed and collaborative strategies.
UWMPD operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is staffed by 26 sworn law enforcement officers, 4 dispatchers and 5 civilian staff members who are dedicated to serving the needs of the university community.
Our success is dependent upon developing and maintaining strong partnerships with an engaged university community.
