Reminder: Teams Calling Checkup

Ring, Ring; it’s UWM IT Calling!

With the fall 2022 semester off to a great start, it’s time to make sure your phone lines are functioning at their best. Please review the following information to ensure that your phone lines ring smooth this semester.

Surplus Drop-off
With the campus migration to Microsoft Teams, areas may have desk phones or telephony equipment that they no longer use. To continue UWM’s sustainability efforts, we have set up a temporary drop-off location to assist with the collection of these devices.

Faculty and staff can dispose of old or unused phone equipment at Classroom Services, Bolton 238 until December 15, 2022. Classroom Services staff members will collect the equipment and it will be brought to the UWM Surplus Program.

Shared Numbers
A shared phone number refers to a number that reaches a group of individuals or a department/location. For example, a phone number shared by multiple employees, the front desk for a department, reception area, or call center.

Shared phone numbers require upkeep; they do not automatically update when employees are hired, retired, or leave UWM. To make changes such as adding a new employee or removing a retiree, please fill out this form.

For information on how to operate a shared or departmental phone line, please review our instructions. Additionally, you can join us for a free online course through UWM Tech Training. We offer a variety of courses on IT topics including Teams Calls: Shared Phone Numbers. Our next course will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 10-11 am, no registration necessary, click here to join.

Can’t make it? That’s ok! You can also watch a past recording of this course here. Additionally, you can download our course resources PDF here.
