Google Chrome & Microsoft Edge on Windows Devices

On November 4, 2020 at 10 pm there will be two upgrades made to University-managed devices that relate to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. More detailed information can be found below.

Upgrade to Google Chrome

University-managed Windows 10 devices running the 32-bit version of Google Chrome will automatically be upgraded from the 32-bit version of Chrome to the 64-bit version. Please note:

  • This change will not affect your Chrome profile or bookmarks.
  • The upgrade will fix a known issue with loading websites on the 32-bit version.
  • To check your version, open Chrome and select Help -> About Google Chrome from the menu near the upper-right corner of your window.
  • If you choose to upgrade before November 4, please open the Software Center and you can run this update at a time more convenient for you. Please review our instructions for more details on how to perform this action.

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge

University-managed Windows 10 devices will automatically upgrade Microsoft Edge to the newest version. Please note:

  • This change will not affect your data or favorites.
  • The new version of Edge has improved performance, compatibility, privacy, and security.
  • Microsoft will begin automatically deploying the new Edge to personal devices with the newest release of Windows 10. To learn more about the new Microsoft Edge, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge.
  • If you choose to upgrade before November 4, please open the Software Center and you can run this update at a time more convenient for you. Please review our instructions for more details on how to perform this action.
