This program is offered twice during the summer: June 21 and July 12. Students must select one of these dates in their Orientation registration for their families to participate.
By participating in Family Orientation, you will:
- Learn about important University resources that exist to support you and your student
- Become familiar with the campus where your student will spend much of their time
- Develop a positive relationship with staff from the Roberto Hernández Center, a great partner in your student’s success
Family Spanish Language Orientation
The Family Spanish Language Orientation program will run alongside our New Student and Transfer Orientations. To participate, follow these steps:
- Have your student register for Orientation – they’ll pick their Orientation program date during registration. Students should register for the June 21 or July 12 program – these are the dates the Family Spanish Language Orientation will be offered.
- Call or email the Roberto Hernández Center at 414-229-6156 or rhc@uwm.edu to confirm that you would like to participate.
- Join us on campus in Summer! At program check-in, we’ll get you connected with the Roberto Hernández Center staff!

On these orientation dates (June 21st or July 12th), students will attend their own orientation program, while parents/guardians will attend a separate family/bilingual orientation. The RHC Spanish Orientation programs are not intended for students.

Las familias son una fuente crucial de apoyo para los estudiantes universitarios. Cuando los padres asistan la orientación de familias, desarrollarán un conocimiento importante sobre la Universidad de Wisconsin Milwaukee para que ustedes puedan ayudarle a su estudiante durante su transición a la universidad. Ofrecemos la orientación para familias en Español auspiciado por el Centro Roberto Hernández (RHC).
Este programa se ofrece dos veces durante este verano: el 21 de Junio, y el 12 de Julio. Los/las estudiantes deben seleccionar una de estas fechas en su registro de Orientación para que sus familias participen.
Al asistir la orientación de familias, podrán:
- aprender sobre recursos importantes de la universidad que existen para apoyarlos a ustedes y a sus estudiantes
- Familiarizarse con el campus en el cual sus estudiantes pasarán mucho de su tiempo
- Conocer el equipo del Centro Roberto Hernández, quienes apoyan el éxito de sus estudiantes
Orientación Familiar en Español
El programa de orientación familiar en español es en colaboración con el programa de orientación para estudiantes. Para participar, siga estos pasos:
- Haga que su estudiante se registre para la orientación. Ellos elegirán la fecha del programa durante el registro. Los/las estudiantes deben registrarse para el programa del 21 de Junio, o el 12 de Julio; estas son las fechas en las que se ofrecerá la Orientación familiar en español.
- Llame o envíe un correo electrónico al Centro Roberto Hernández – 414-229-6156, rhc@uwm.edu – para confirmar que le gustaría participar.
- ¡Únase a nosotros en el campus en verano!

En estas dos fechas del programa de orientación (Junio 21 y Julio 12) los estudiantes estarán asistiendo su propio programa de orientación en Ingles, mientras sus padres estarán asistiendo la orientación familiar bilingüe con el personal del Centro Roberto Hernandez. La orientación en Español no es para los estudiantes!
