Mark Caldwell awarded grant

Mark Caldwell, Sociology PhD student and lecturer, has been awarded a Sydney S. Spivack Program in Applied Social Research and Social Policy Community Action Research Initiative (CARI) grant by the American Sociological Association. The grant encourages sociologists to undertake community action projects that bring social science knowledge, methods, and expertise to bear in addressing community-identified issues and concerns.

Caldwell is working with Sweet Water Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on the environment and education, to develop a survey for users who will be participating in their online certifications program called AQUAPONS. The survey will assess how peer-reviewed activities impact learning outcomes for an online certification program.
