Citizens Academy

The UW-Milwaukee Police Citizens Academy is a 5-week program designed to provide citizens with a working knowledge of the UW-Milwaukee Police Department. The training runs from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm weekly. This training is designed to show citizens a better understanding of the training that our Officers go through, and the procedures used by our Officers. The UW-Milwaukee Police Department Citizens academy is committed to engaging in positive communication, mutual understanding, and support between the Police Department and the Campus Community. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion at the graduation ceremony.

Citizens Academy Dates:

  • Wednesday, March 27th, 2024
  • Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024
  • Wednesday, April 10th, 2024
  • Wednesday, April 17th, 2024
  • Wednesday, April 24th, 2024

UWM Klotsche Center located at 3409 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211

  • Impaired Driving (OWI)

  • Police Equipment Demo
  • Narcan Training
  • CPR Training
  • C.R.A.S.E. Training

Who Can Participate:

  • UWM Students/Staff/Faculty
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Have no felony convictions in the last 15 years

The deadline to submit your application is March 18th, 2024. Upon receipt of all the applications, we will review them and select up to twenty citizens for class. It is our intent to have a very diverse class. Applicants are subject to a background check.
