Citizens Academy
The UW-Milwaukee Police Citizens Academy is a 5-week program designed to provide citizens with a working knowledge of the UW-Milwaukee Police Department. The training runs from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm weekly. This training is designed to show citizens a better understanding of the training that our Officers go through, and the procedures used by our Officers. The UW-Milwaukee Police Department Citizens academy is committed to engaging in positive communication, mutual understanding, and support between the Police Department and the Campus Community. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion at the graduation ceremony.

- Use of Force
- Defense and Arrest Tactics
- Constitutional Law
- Mental Health/Person in Crisis
- Crime Scene Processing
- Impaired Driving (OWI)
- Station Tour
- Police Equipment Demo
- Narcan Training
- CPR Training
- C.R.A.S.E. Training
Who Can Participate:
- UWM Students/Staff/Faculty
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Have no felony convictions in the last 15 years
The deadline to submit your application is currently closed. Upon receipt of all the applications, we will review them and select up to twenty citizens for class. It is our intent to have a very diverse class. Applicants are subject to a background check.
