Hi I’m Officer Wagner,

I’ve been with the UWM Police Department for 8 years.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence cases at UWM are handled by the Sensitive Crimes Team.

The Sensitive Crimes Team is responsible for the investigation of sexual assaults, internet crimes against children, domestic violence, stalking, and related internet crimes. The Sensitive Crimes Team is comprised of a Detective Sergeant, four Sergeants and five Officers. The Officers provide a survivor focused response, to seek justice for the victim if or when they choose to pursue the case through the Criminal Justice System. The Sensitive Crimes Team works closely with other departments to provide resources with a goal of helping the survivor feel safe, secure, and supported.

Although there are officers on the Sensitive Crimes Team, most members of the department have basic training on sensitive crimes and are compassionate and understanding.
