1. When to Declare

Ideally, you should declare the certificate as soon as possible, in order to take advantage of departmental advising in planning the best sequence of upper-level courses. There are no prerequisites you need before declaring.

After submitting your request to declare a certificate, you are encouraged to contact the Philosophy Undergraduate Assistant, Natachia Attewell (attewell@uwm.edu) with any questions you may have about program requirements. You are strongly encouraged to meet with the Certificate in Ethics, Values, and Society Advisor, Beth Silverstein (silvers2@uwm.edu) to talk about philosophy, or at the very least to give us an opportunity to get to know you and learn your name!
