Winter parking rules start Dec. 1

Milwaukee’s winter parking regulations begin on Thursday, Dec. 1, and run until March 1. UWM students can seek out more information through the Milwaukee Department of Public Works or the UWM Off-Campus Resource Center (formerly the Neighborhood Housing Office).

Here are a few winter parking rules:

  • Posted signs take precedence. Read the street signs for winter parking instructions before parking.
  • No parking is allowed on through-highways and bus routes from 2 to 6 a.m. See the map.
  • Snow Emergency: When a snow emergency is declared, all vehicles must follow posted signs and alternate side park citywide between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. where parking is allowed (parking prohibited on the through highways and bus routes during these same hours). Fines are $50 to $150 per citation, and vehicles may be towed.
