Scammers can disguise their phone number to make it look like a call or text is coming from established places like the power company, a bank or even people you work with.
Those scam calls — called vishing — and texts — or smishing — can be difficult to identify in the moment, but learning about their red flags before you get that suspicious call or text can help keep you safe. Always be cautious of any unsolicited calls or messages you might receive.
