UWM Vietnam veterans sought for recognition

UWM-affiliated Vietnam War veterans are being sought for special recognition at the Military and Veterans Resource Center’s annual “Serving Those Who Served” brunch Nov. 7.

During the brunch, Duane Honeycutt, director of the VA regional office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Milwaukee, will recognize and present each Vietnam veteran with a pin created for this event.

In order to create a complete list and provide enough pins, UWM-affiliated Vietnam veterans are asked to register for the ceremony by Oct. 15.  To register, call or email Gretchen Schuttey, coordinator of the Veterans Affairs’ Vet Success on Campus program at UWM, at 414-229-6488 or Gretchen.schuttey@va.gov.

Vietnam veterans eligible include UWM faculty, staff, students and alumni, as well as their spouses.

The brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Student Union Ballroom. The brunch honors military service members, veterans and their supporters in recognition of their service and sacrifices. It’s open to anyone in the campus community. For more information, contact Sarah Terry, MAVRC assistant director of campus engagement, at (414) 229-7211 or at tarah@uwm.edu.
