UWM professor Colleen Galambos named Woman of Influence

Colleen Galambos, a professor of social work at the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, has been named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2020 Women of Influence list.

Galambos was named to the list in the “mentor” category. She is one of 30 women honored by the publication.

“These women are the cream of the crop of Milwaukee’s professional community,” the Milwaukee Business Journal said in announcing the winners. “They’ve grown businesses, created products, inspired future generations and made southeastern Wisconsin a better place to live and work.”

Galambos, the Helen Bader Endowed Chair of Applied Gerontology at the School of Social Welfare, is a member of a prestigious National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine committee that is studying the health and medical impacts of social isolation and loneliness on adults 50 and older.

A prolific researcher, Galambos also has extensive experience in clinical, administrative and policy positions in a variety of health and long-term care organizations.
