UWM alumni employees honored at luncheon

The second annual UW-Milwaukee Alumni Association Appreciation Lunch added an awards ceremony this year.

More than 150 alumi employees gathered March 30 in the Golda Meir Library Conference Center. UWM has more than 1,100 alumni employees.

Patricia Borger, vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations, and Chancellor Mark Mone each addressed the crowd.

Four awards were given. The winners, except for the Alumni Association Champion, were chosen from a pool nominated by colleagues and students.

Leah Schreiber Johnson won the Outstanding Performance award. Bonnie Halvorsen won the Community University: We Make a Difference award for promoting partnerships between UWM and Milwaukee organizations. Julie Frey won the Unsung Hero award for her exceptional work behind the scenes at UWM. Brian Toyer won the Alumni Association Champion award as a partner between UWM and the Alumni Association.
