Tuition and fees to increase for 2023-24 academic year

For the upcoming 2023-24 academic year, students will see an increase in tuition, fees, and room and board. You can find a listing of tuition and fees for Fall 2023 at the Student Financial Services site.

Tuition

Here are some of the increases for the 2023-24 academic year:

  • Undergraduate Wisconsin resident students: $8,455, an increase of about $360.
  • Nonresident undergraduates: $20,455, an increase of about $500.
  • Resident students at Washington County and Waukesha campuses: $4,964, an increase of about $200.

Differential tuition: Students in engineering and biomedical programs will see a differential tuition amount added to annual tuition. The engineering differential is a change to an existing differential, effective immediately for all engineering students. The differential for biomedical students applies to new students entering this fall, once they reach junior/senior status. More information will be shared with students in those programs in the coming weeks.

Fall tuition charges are anticipated to post to students’ accounts in late June.

What you can do now

Why this is happening

Tuition has not increased at UWM in the last 10 years. Combined with reduced state funding, faculty and staff are doing more with less, in the classroom and in support and service areas. Tuition and fee increases will ensure high-quality instruction and support for students in their academics and campus life.
